Spirit of a Storm

There's a spirit of a storm in my soul A restlessness that I can't seem to tame Thunder and lightning follow everywhere I go There's a spirit of a storm in my soul. There's a hurricane that's raging through my blood I can't find a way to calm the sea Maybe I'll find someday the waters aren't so rushed Right they've got the best of me. And oh, it's been a long, long time Since I had real peace of mind So I am just gonna sit right here In this old chair until this storm rolls by. Oh, maybe it's just the way I am Maybe I won't ever change So I'm just gonna sit right here In this old chair and just soak up the rain. There's a spirit of a storm in my soul Every time I think it's gone away Dark clouds gather, that old wind begins to blow The sun's going to shine someday I hope There's a spirit of a storm in my soul...in my soul. - Kenny Chesney Album: Lucky Old Sun Song: Spirit of a Storm *To hear the song, Google "Spirit of a Storm by Kenny Chesney, You Tube" and you should find a link. My computer skills are not savy enough to have the song playing in the background! :-) Right now, I am still soaking up the rain. Someone once said to "plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone else to bring you flowers." So, I will. And, when the sun does shine, I can only imagine the flowers!

Happy Halloween!

Despite the buckets of rain we have received in the past month, our October has been full of lots of candy, pumpkins & pumpkin carving, crafts, hay mazes, barrel rides, face painting, bounce houses, soccer games, haunted houses, train rides, cookies AND trick-or-treating!! We are looking forward to a cool, dry, beautiful November. (more Halloween pics to come on another post) Happy Halloween!

The Haunted House

Graydon spotted the build-your-own spooky house at Wal-Mart the other day and insisted that we take it home! I gave it a thumbs-ups, since playing in orange/black/yellow icing, purple sprinkles, candy corn and chocolate cookie walls seemed like some form of therapy for me...really! :-) Although, by the end of the night, Graydon had eaten half of the candy decorations and begged for 30 minutes to dump the sprinkles on the front porch (of the haunted house)...which he did! I think next time I will just get a manicure or something.... Beginning construction and snacking on candy corn. Our camera-man asked us to make our best silly-face.

Posing with Pumpkins!

A few weeks ago, the "fam" headed to the Great Pumpkin Festival at the Dallas Arboretum. It is one of our favorite places in Dallas and is festive & beautiful this time of year! We always take a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon - Sorry for all the pics - these are for the family back home! :-) As you can see, there are so many places to take great pictures.

Balloon Glow

So I am going to back-track for this entry...One hot, humid, muggy night late this summer, we decided to take an adventure to find the local balloon festival that was happening in our area! We basically let the crowd (and the traffic) lead us to the site, because we had no idea where we were going....in the dark! After we set up camp on a hill with lemonade and fresh kettle corn (my fave!), we were treated to over a dozen balloons glowing in the distance and an awesome fireworks show! It was a perfect way to finish out the summer...enjoy the glow!

Tiger on the Prowl!

Geaux Tigers!! It's amazing that a 4-year-old can sit SO still while a lady paints a tiger on his face! It's a shame it only lasted one day - he had so much fun just looking at himself in the mirror! He even asked for bite-sized snacks and food so he wouldn't mess up his tiger-fangs. He kept asking if his teeth were still there - gotta luv him! Geaux Tigers!!

On the Mend!

We are sending well wishes, prayers, and positive thoughts to the Johnsons in Conway, who have had a rough couple of weeks! "Mini"Cooper had surgery last Tuesday and then Amy (who is pregnant) came down with the flu a week later. This is a pic of their last visit to McKinney/Dallas when we took the kids to the Dallas World Aquarium!...Too funny! Hope this pic will lift all your spirits-hehe!!
